SVFD co3:DRILL

DRIL DATE: December 2020

VIRTUAL DRILL

We are going to ask members to participate in one or all of the following offerings in December. This can be a joint effort among the individual fire companies with the company officers taking the lead and setting a night for each company or each member can do it on their own. The videos are self-explanatory. The UL basement fire issues a certificate at the end and is about 90 minutes long. It is VERY educational and challenging yet rewarding

The goal of the December drill is to focus on:
1. Basement Fires
2. Gas Meters
3. Reading Smoke: The Next Generation

Basement Fire

Understanding and Fighting Basement Fires

You will need to establish an account if you take this course. It is approximately 90 minutes long. It would be great if each company sets a night to do it collectively or members do it on your own. This is a strong foundation to what we are planning 2021.

Gas Meters

NOTES: watch the first ~23 minutes. After that it is VERY technical. Please note: all of our meters in Scarsdale are (1) always on; and (2) are passive meters (using only natural air flow to feed the meter). Reminder: a good indicator of a situation requiring an SCBA would be if the homeowners, for instance, are complaining of symptoms and SCARVAC is co-dispatched. This is a strong foundation to what we are planning 2021.
